So, you want to buy a gift for someone who plays disc golf and have no idea where to start. Maybe you don’t play yourself and all this disc golf talk is flying over your head. Or maybe you play, but don’t want to try and pick out discs for someone else- regardless, this list has you covered. If you have any questions or need more information beyond this, give us a call or come into the shop, we have it all in stock.
1. Innova Toboggan – $16.99 or 2. Innova Beanie – $14.99
Now that we’re into colder weather, a baseball hat isn’t going to cut it on the course. With more windchill and it getting dark earlier, you need to keep your head and ears toasty out there. If you’re feeling flashy, the toboggan is thicker and brighter. The beanie is a little more reserved, but a tight weave still keeps the chill at bay. One size fits all.
3. UV Flashlight Wand – $19.99 or 4. LED Lights (set of 2) – $ 5.99
Now that it’s getting dark earlier, it’s more important than ever to be prepared to play at night. If you own a set of glow discs, having a UV wand is clutch- it’s small enough to fit in your bag, the battery lasts over 1,000 hours, and it’ll get your discs glowing super bright in seconds. If you don’t have a glow set, then LED lights are your best friend. Small, light-weight, and flat, they won’t affect your flight patterns like bulkier lights might. LED lights are easy to install and can also be put on a basket (or anything really).
5. Dynamic Discs Cadet Bag – $15.99 or 6. Dynamic Soldier Bag – $49.99 / 64.99 with Cooler
Once you get past the first hand full of discs, you need a bag. If you’re looking for something basic to get started, or looking for a second bag to stash at work, the cadet bag is perfect. Easy access front pocket and a big water bottle holder make this bag a major step up from the competitor starter bags. Alternately, if you’re in it to win it, the soldier bag is for you. It comes in two styles: with or without the interior cooler for your “energy drinks.” With either style you’re getting maximum storage, both in the interior and multiple exterior pockets. Without the cooler, the soldier holds 20 discs, so you’re prepared for anything.
If you live in Western North Carolina and aren’t part of this great organization, you’re seriously missing out. Founded in 2000, the non-profit group works to foster, promote, and improve the sport and community of disc golf in the area through installation and maintenance of several disc golf courses, education and clinics, and lots of tournaments. Yearly membership is $30 and that earns you a beautiful, custom stamped membership disc and a bag tag for that current year that will be used in games, tournaments, and at the big end-of-the year party. For more information, check out the WNC Disc Golf Association facebook page.
8. Disc Golf Towel – $7.99 and up
Especially on the courses around here, where shaded areas can stay wet for days after a rain and mud collects, a micro-fiber towel that easily attaches to your bag is very helpful. These towels absorb up to 4 times their weight and are as durable as they are compact when stored. They come in a variety of sizes, colors, and designs to fit anyone’s personality.
9. Dynamic Discs Ranger Stool – $39.99
If you’re playing after a day at work or on one of the longer courses, a stool is a luxury. At 24 oz, it won’t weigh you down and it easily collapses and snaps together and onto a bag. In fact, you can get your ranger stool to match your bag if you want to be the styled kid on the course. This stool can hold 250lbs and is super strong with aluminum alloy legs reinforced with birch dowels. Three layers of polyester fabric both create a comfortable seat and provide a taller sitting position. When it comes to tournaments and large group games, give your feet a break and chill out with this stool.
10. French Broad Outfitters Gift Certificate
