River Flow

The French Broad River is a natural flow river, meaning there is a lot of variation in river flow and it changes frequently. Our average summer flow is 1,000 to 2,500 CFS (cubic feet per second), and any numbers outside of this range usually mean special considerations for our river trips.

The link below will show the current in cubic feet per second. It’s the second option on the bulleted list, beneath Gage Height. Our high water cut off for float trips and rental boating equipment is around 3,000 CFS. This is extremely rare in the summertime.

Tubing is especially affected by high and low water levels and put-in locations are subject to change as a result.
